Ukuhlushwa kwesisombululo kungenye yezihloko eziyisisekelo nezibaluleke kakhulu kumakhemikhali, kokubili kumalebhu esikole, ocwaningweni lwelabhorethri, kanye nezicelo zezimboni ezifana nemithi, ukudla, kanye nokwelashwa kwamanzi.
